An awesome festival event to bring your family out and about in the June Holidays!
If you’re around in Singapore from 1 to 25 June 2023, don’t miss the chance to experience the i Light Singapore festival. Presented by DBS and organized by the Urban Redevelopment Authority, this festival is a celebration of sustainability through immersive light art installations and interactive programs. This year’s theme is A New Wave, and the color blue, which is omnipresent in nature’s blue spaces like oceans and rivers, is the main inspiration. Festival goers can witness creative and innovative artworks curated by a diverse group of artists, ranging from local creatives to international names, and student designers.
The festival will transform Marina Bay into a visual playground with brand new installations, and two new locations – South Beach and Millenia Walk – are added to offer fresh experiences to visitors. One of the must-see installations is Glacier Dreams by Refik Anadol, which transforms visual data on the world’s glaciers into AI-based multi-sensory narratives to raise awareness of climate change. Trumpet Flowers by Amigo & Amigo, on the other hand, invites visitors to play with interactive keys to compose a unique sound and light show inspired by their emotions. Moreover, Plug & Play’s Block Party is an interactive installation that encourages visitors to dance and shape their surroundings while reminding them of the power they have to make a difference to the environment.
Embark on an experiential journey

Apart from these, visitors can embark on a journey to a future where rising sea levels have submerged humans in an underwater world through Lightwave: Turning the Tide, presented by Alibaba Cloud. At South Beach and Millenia Walk, there are also artworks by students, such as Bleached, which simulates an ocean floor adorned with upcycled single-use plastics and corals made from seaweed bioplastics. Show III by James Cook University and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, on the other hand, provides a space for self-contemplation through an audio-visual simulation of a shower experience.
The festival aims to inspire visitors to embrace sustainability as part of their everyday lives, and Mr. Lim Eng Hwee, CEO of URA, encourages visitors to contemplate their relationship with the environment while enjoying the delightful artworks and programs. With admission tickets for Lightwave: Turning the Tide priced at SGD5, you don’t want to miss out on this unique opportunity to witness the i Light Singapore festival and experience the power of sustainable art.
